Headlines these day seem rife instances of alleged child sexual predators combing playgrounds, parks and schools for their victims. That's what makes the news this week out of Chicago regarding a former school bus driver pleading guilty to possessing and distributing child porn all the more sickening.

Today, in Kuala Lumpur, a major city in Malaysia, a decision was made to stretch the life of a school bus by 10 years, going far beyond any of the recent changes that have been seen in the U.S.

Every day, in the newspaper, on television and on the Internet, we are faced with grim headlines: assaults, domestic violence, child abuse, gang-related issues, abductions. As the saying reminds us, the list goes on and on. When we are confronted with such concerns, what should we do? Of course, the best action, to perhaps save a life, is to report the situation to someone. But, most people, especially children, are afraid to tell — the old "code of silence."
