Construction Equipment Magazine Awards Keytroller for Keypad Ignition Device

TAMPA, Fla. — Keytroller’s START – SMART programmable keypad ignition device is awarded CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT MAGAZINE’S TOP 100 AWARD.

This prestigious award is given annually from hundred’s of new product introductions in the construction equipment industry, and selected from drawing on reader input and the magazine’s own experience with equipment technology and the equipment marketplace.

The award is to be announced in the magazine’s December 2010 issue.

The START-SMART is a programmable keyless code or RFID card ignition system, completely sealed and designed for tough outdoor weather conditions. The small keypad (3”x 3.5”x ¾”) has no exposed cables and easily fits to any dashboard. The device is vandal and weatherproof, and tested to military standards for durability.

The kit includes a dual relay module that connects to the ignition switch. After inputting a valid code or RFID card, the driver presses START to engage both ignition and starter relays. After the engine starts, the finger is removed, the starter relay drops out and the engine runs. Pressing STOP disengages the ignition relay and the engine stops.

The system is also available in an anti-theft version which includes a wireless relay hidden in the ignition, starter or fuel pump circuit to prevent “hot-wiring” — keeping the vehicle from being started and stolen in the first place.
