TCI Recalling Handful of Trans Tech Bus Models

Transportation Collaborative, Inc. (TCI) announced that fiberglass installed about a dozen model year 2011 and 2012 Trans Tech Bus SST and Horizon school buses fail to meet design specifications.

In separate NHTSA recalls filed earlier this month, TCI said the 11 affected SST school bus bodies were manufactured on Ford E-350 and E-450 Econoline chassis. Meanwhile, two Horizon models also manufactured on For E-350 and E-450 Econolines have the same issue. The school bus fiberglass can cause insufficient torque valves at the upper torso mounting point. This can cause the vehicles to fall out of compliance with FMVSS 210 on “Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages.”

The company added that the shoulder restraint could detach form the B-Pillar anchorage during a crash.

Owners will be notified this month with instructions and repair kits. Authorized dealers will also make repairs free of charge.
