| Association of School Business Officials Executive Scheduled to Speak at STN EXPO! |
|
Musso is scheduled to present the keynote address during the July 27 STN EXPO Breakfast sponsored by Thomas Built Buses. His thesis, derived from the African proverb "It takes a village to raise a child," is that it is the responsibility of the entire community – administrators, teachers, transportation professionals and parents, alike – to assist students in achieving the best possible education. On day earlier, on July 26, he is also scheduled to participate on a related general session panel being developed by legal expert Peggy Burns of Education Compliance Group. Before joining ASBO in 2006, Musso served as chief financial officer for the District of Columbia Public Schools, where he was responsible for all financial and budgetary functions of the school district that had an annual budget of $2 billion in operating, grant, and capital funds. He has 35 years of experience in education, having previously served as an elementary school teacher, principal, and deputy superintendent. He has held leadership positions with Colorado ASBO, the Colorado Liquid Asset Trust, the Colorado Association of School Executives, and the ASBO International Board of Directors. Mr. Musso is a two-time recipient of ASBO International's Eagle Award, having been named International School Business Official of the Year in 2001 and an Outstanding School Business Administrator in 1992. He also received ASBO's Pinnacle of Achievement Award in 1994. |

John D. Musso, the executive director of ASBO International, has agreed to participate in this summer's 17th School Transportation News EXPO Conference at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nev.
