The participants will also receive the most recent updates on the Infants and Toddlers Safety Education Curriculum addendum that focuses on the role of parents as the first teacher for their children in transporting them safely in vehicles as well as pedestrian safety guidelines and resources.

Lessons to Learn When Evacuating Students with Disabilities and Head Start Children
Whether transporting students with disabilities or preschoolers, little data is available on how quickly bus drivers and attendants must get kids off of a bus in an emergency, especially a fire. The general rule of thumb is you have two minutes. But add to this complexity students in wheelchairs, restrained in age-appropriate vests or car seats or secured with lap/shoulder belts. This live-demonstration joint session will instruct participants on best practices for how to evacuate the bus as soon as possible and will demonstrate the obstacles that all pupil transporters must clear when planning for the worst-case scenario.
