| John Walsh Keynote Event at STN EXPO Moves Forward |
|
Blue Bird Corporation and BUS-WATCH® by REI have signed separate sponsorship agreements to present with STN this special keynote address on the afternoon of July 26. The host of one of the longest running TV shows of all-time, Walsh is scheduled to discuss child safety at school bus stops and specifically how transportation departments can help communities identify sexual predators. He will also address the industry on how students can be kept safe walking to and from stops. Before "America's Most Wanted," Walsh first came to prominence in the worst way imaginable for any parent. His son Adam was not quite 8-years-old in the summer of 1981 when he was taken from a Sears department store in Hollywood, Fla., where his mother was shopping. He was never again seen alive, and his case remains one of the most gruesome child abductions and murders in U.S. history. Walsh and wife Revé went on to be the inspiration for the forming of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the couple was instrumental in passing the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act, which President George W. Bush signed into law in 2006 almost 25 years to the day of Adam's disappearance. Earlier this year, Walsh interviewed President Obama in commemoration of the 1,000th anniversary of "America's Most Wanted, which began airing on Feb. 7, 1988. It is the longest-running program of any kind in the history of the Fox Television Network and is responsible for helping in the arrest of more than 1,100 criminals. Meanwhile, with the final touches being put on the workshop agenda, a schedule-at-a-glance is now available for the STN EXPO Preconferences, General Sessions and the Head Start, Maintenance, Operations and Safety & Security tracks. |

When the star of "America's Most Wanted" on FOX takes the stage this summer at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, he will represent one of the biggest marquee moments in school transportation conference history.
