The Cincinnati USA Convention and Visitors Bureau recently presented its Pinnacle Award for Outstanding Service to First Student school bus driver Richard Fumi. The award honors those on the hospitality front line who go above and beyond to provide excellent customer service.
"We are so proud that Richard was recognized for his outstanding service," said Joe Eversole, First Student's location manager. "His commitment is unparalleled, and this award is a testament to his hard work and dedication."
Fumi joined the First Student team in 2007. Besides transporting Cincinnati Public School students to and from school and their extracurricular activities, he also serves as a the district's dispatcher.
Last summer, Fumi assisted in managing charter operations for the World Choir Games, which meant making sure that the 50-plus buses for participants were on time and at the right location during the two-week competition. When First Student learned of a choir that arrived too late to compete at the close of the event, Fumi volunteered his time to drive members around Cincinnati so they could perform in area churches and community venues.
Fumi received the award during the CVB's annual meeting March 6 in Cincinnati. He was one of three individuals recognized for their service achievements.
