To consolidate its transportation management system, Brownsville Independent School District in Texas has signed a contract with Tyler Technologies, Inc. for its Versatrans student transportation management software.
The district has been utilizing stand-alone modules for its transportation management needs. The district selected multiple applications, including the Versatrans Triptracker, Versatrans Fleetvision, Versatrans Routing & Planning, and Versatrans My Stop, which offers mobile access for parents, students and guardians to check the location of their child’s school bus.
Noel Guerrero Jr., Brownsville’s assistant administrator of transportation, said the district chose the Versatrans solution because it provides a complete suite of integrated applications that work together to enhance student safety.
“Having Tyler as sole vendor of our transportation management solution creates value for the ISD in many ways, including having the ability to run complete reports across our department and implement route changes more efficiently, saving fuel costs and work hours,” noted Guerrero. “With Tyler hosting Versatrans, we know our data is secure and will be properly maintained, allowing us to focus on providing the best services we can.”
Ted Thien, senior vice president and general manager of Tyler’s Versatrans solution, said the Plano-based company delivers innovative solutions to improve operations and create efficiencies for school districts like Brownsville ISD.
“Tyler's solution will allow Brownsville ISD to simplify its technology investment and personnel costs, while still receiving the system support and maintenance necessary for a modern transportation system,” added Thien.
Encompassing 95 square miles, the Brownsville district transports about 27,000 students daily on 300 school buses. Brownsville is the 16th most populous city in the state of Texas and located on its southernmost tip.
