Blue Bird said FuelSense, the rebranded next generation in fuel savings launched recently by Allison Transmissions, is a standard offering on all Vision and All American models with Cummins ISB6.7L diesel engines and Allison's 2000 Series transmission.
In fact, Blue Bird added that it has been offering many of the same FuelSense features over the past several years in its economy transmission programming for the Vision and All American FE and RE models.
Standard FuelSense features 5th-Generation Controls, EcoCal and Dynamic Shift Sensing to improve fuel economy by 5- to 15-percent. EcoCal is formerly known as low speed shift schedules and is a defined set of low and "super" low speed shift schedules designed to keep the engine speed at its optimum point. Dynamic Shift Sensing, or LBSSS/ABMS/SESS, automatically selects between EcoCal or a higher-speed shift schedule.
Blue Bird also said it is offering Acceleration Rate Management, a feature of FuelSense Max formerly known as VAC, as standard on the three large bus models. A Blue Bird spokesman said customers will soon be able to order two FuelSense options. FuelSense Max offers 8- to 20 -percent fuel economy increases by incorporating all of the standard features as well as those of FuelSense Plus, which promises fuel economy increases of 6- to 18 percent by adding neutral at stop, or RELS and ECLR.
Blue Bird said more information on FuelSense and its availabilty will be released soon and advised customer to contact their local Blue Bird dealers or Allison Transmission directly.
Allison announced the rebranded FuelSense as the new name of its fuel economy package in July.
