(Oct. 16, 2009) — IC Bus announced that its record-breaking 10,773rd bus was manufactured today at its plant in Tulsa, Okla., breaking a the mark set during the 2006 production year.
The company marked the milestone with employees during an informal event as the IC Bus CE Series rolled off the line. By the time IC Bus completes its current production cycle at the end of the month, it will have produced 11,300 buses this year and 73,000 buses at the Tulsa plant since it opened in 2001.
“This is a tremendous achievement for our Tulsa employees,” said John McKinney, president, IC Bus. “Day-in and day-out, we have a dedicated team of hardworking bus builders that go beyond the bus in building some of the safest and most dependable vehicles on the road.”
The majority of buses manufactured in Tulsa are school buses, though some are destined for the commercial market. IC Bus said it expects to build a total of 11,300 buses during the 2008-2009 production year.
