Yuma School District One Seeking Candidates for Director of Transportation

Yuma School District One is seeking qualified candidates for the following position:

Director of Transportation Salary Range: $72,000 - $78,000

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct the transportation functions for Yuma Schools Transportation Consortium, including bus operations and vehicle maintenance activities. This directorship is responsible for the operation of a sophisticated transportation network serving over 20,000 students and the overseeing of the work of other professionals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Post secondary training/certification.
  2. Minimum of four years of increasingly responsible experience in transportation service, fleet operations, or traffic services.
  3. Three years of supervisory responsibility.
  4. Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning,
  5. resource allocation, human resources, leadership techniques, production methods, and
  6. coordination of people and resources.
  7. Ability to work with financial and transportation software.
  8. Ability to work with elementary, high school, and college educational institutions to
  9. support their educational mission.
  10. Current or prior certification as a school bus driver preferred.

The Board of Education of the Memphis City Schools District will accept written proposals for transportation services for the District.  The district is seeking responses to perform a part or all of the following services:  (a) Regular Home-to-School transportation, (b) Special Needs Home-To-School transportation, (c) Specialized Exceptional Children transportation, (d) No Child Left Behind (NCLB) transportation, and (e) Supplemental transportation. Responses to a), b), and c) may also be submitted for all or any combination of the district’s four geographical regions: Northwest, Northeast, Southwest, and Southeast. Awards will be based on four (4) year contracts, with the exception of the NCLB services.  The NCLB services will be awarded on a one year basis, renewable for three additional one year terms.

The Request for Proposal will close on January 8, 2010 at 2 p.m.

A mandatory pre-proposal conference will be held on November 20, 2009 from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM in Room #W112, Memphis City Schools, 2485 Union Ave., Memphis, TN, 38112.  Attendance shall be limited to three (3) attendees per Respondent.
