Sumwalt Assumes NTSB Acting Chairman Role

The National Transportation Safety Board announced that Robert L. Sumwalt once again is the agency's vice chairman, taking over the spot on the board from fellow Member Bella Dinh-Zarr. Navistar Announces Key Leadership Appointments

LISLE, Ill., – Navistar International Corporation (NYSE: NAV) today announced the appointment of Persio V. Lisboa, president of operations, as executive vice president and chief operating officer, effective immediately. In addition, Steven K. Covey, senior vice president and general counsel, is retiring after 36 years with Navistar. Curt Kramer, currently associate general counsel and corporate secretary, will succeed Covey effective April 1, 2017.

Blue Bird Awarded $4.4 Million to Develop Electric School Bus

WASHINGTON—In December 2016, the Department of Energy announced that they would be awarding $15 million to organizations in an effort to accelerate the adoption of advanced and alternative fuel vehicles. Blue Bird Corporation, a bus manufacturer located in Fort Valley, Georgia, was presented the largest amount at $4.4 million in order to develop a zero-emissions, 100 percent V2G electric school bus.

North Carolina State Director Announces Retirement

The long-time transportation section chief for the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction and past president of the National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services, Derek Graham, said he plans to remain aligned to the school bus industry following his retirement on Feb. 28.
