A Journey to India

It’s 5 a.m. and Vihaan is slowly waking up. He usually gets up by 6 a.m. so his mom can get him ready for the long journey to school. But this morning things are a little bit different. The weather forecast predicts some rain later this morning. If that occurs, there’s no way Vihaan Is going to get to school. But maybe if he can get ready by 5:30 his mom will feel comfortable carrying him to school through dirty narrow streets of the slum, before the rain turns them to mud.

Vallo Transportation Hosts Special Bullying Prevention Presentation at JHS 194 Featuring National Anti-Bullying Speaker Tom Thelen

 

NEW YORK – Vallo Transportation promoted their fifth annual anti-bullying awareness campaign entitled No Bullying Zone.  To celebrate this milestone anniversary, the company increased outreach efforts in the community and hosted a special bullying prevention presentation at JHS 194 in Whitestone, NY.  The presentation featured national anti-bullying speaker Tom Thelen. 

Teena Mitchell Wins NAPT Special Needs Transportation Award

The NAPT Special Needs Transportation Award, which is sponsored by Q’Straint, was awarded during the NAPT Summit to Teena Mitchell, special needs coordinator for the transportation department at Greenville County Schools located in northwestern South Carolina.

NAPT Announces New Board Members at Summit

Barry Sudduth took over as National Association for Pupil Transportation president during industry conferences in Columbus, Ohio and was joined on the board by Rick Grisham, the 2017 STN Leadership Award winner and executive director of transportation for Cobb County School District in Georgia.

On Monday, NASDPTS Conference attendees heard updates from the Transportation Security Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration while both NASDPTS and NAPT attendees attended an evening reception hosted by STN that also honored Georgia's Rick Grisham.

The National Association of State Directors of Pupil Transportation Services spent time on Sunday discussing some pressing issues currently surrounded by controversy, accusations and questions, including lap-shoulder belts and mobile data terminals aboard school buses as well as how federal school reform and criminal behavior by bus drivers affect the industry.
