The Los Angeles Daily News reports on a Wednesday incident in which a private school bus caught fire on the 101 Freeway in Woodland Hills, located about 25 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles.
At almost 2 p.m., the bus driver noticed smoke and was able to pull over to the shoulder of the road. Four adults on-board then helped the 23 students to disembark from the bus.
“Fortunately, there were no injuries, and all the children on board made it off safely before the bus was fully engulfed,” the California Highway Patrol said. The CHP closed all lanes on the westbound side of the freeway for about three hours, as the Los Angeles Fire Department put out the blaze.
