Calif. State Legislature OKs Bill to Start School Later

The California State Assembly has voted to pass the School Start Time Bill, SB 328, which says it would give students more sleep time, by a 41-30 vote. It was then approved by the Senate, 23 to 13, and sent to Gov. Jerry Brown for his signature. “Now that the 2018 session has concluded, the Governor has until the end of September to sign or veto the bills the Legislature sent to his desk,” explained State Senator John Moorlach, CPA, on his Facebook page.

NTSB Schedules Video Crash Recordings Webinar for Sept. 13

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) announced an important upcoming event today, “Reducing CMV Crashes Through the Use of Video Recorders Webinar.” The live broadcast has been scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. PDT. Registrants will be able to ask questions at the conclusion of the event.

Colorado Foster Care Law Hurts School Transportation, Lawsuit Claims

The Colorado Association of School Boards (CASB), Colorado Association of School Executives (CASE), six school districts and two individual taxpayers claim that a new state law that is designed to help foster care students, will unfairly impact school transportation and should be ruled unconstitutional. Especially at issue is the cross-district busing, which is the crux of the litigation.
