Truck Services announced a recall to fix Carrier EM-1 evaporator units installed in certain model-year 2009 Blue Bird chassis.
The NHTSA recall centers on a Delphi Pack-Con III fuse holder in an allied motion motor assembly contained in Carrier GENV EM-1 evaporator units manufactured from Jan. 1, 2006 though December 2010.The five Blue Bird chassis affected by the recall were manufactured from January 2009 through December 2009. The recall also affects similar Carrier evaporator units installed in other school and commercial bus applications from different manufacturers.
Truck Services said the fuse may loosen in the fuse holder due to time, temperature or vibration. This could result in high resistance and arcing, which could melt the fuse holder and create smoke or fire.
Truck Services is notifying owners this month with instructions to receive a free remedy. Owners may contact Carrier at (800) 793-4741 or Truck Service at (317) 248-5606.
