The Roadeo, presented by School Transportation News, consists of driver-attendant teams, and there is no prerequisite to participate. All are welcome, whether or not you have participated in a roadeo in your state or district. The goal of this Roadeo is to help you increase your knowledge of special needs transportation.

THIS IS A TRAINING DAY AS WELL AS A COMPETITION.

Your score will be based on:

  • Pre-check inspection
  • Driving skills while maneuvering through a driving course
  • Loading, unloading and securing students in wheelchairs
  • Decision-making and reaction time in an emergency scenario
  • Behavioral control of students with disabilities on board the bus
  • A written test to be completed by teams prior to the event (to be turned in at registration on Friday, March 9)

This is a TEAM event. The attendant MAY assist driver (observing, alerting, etc.) during any driving course event. It is the expectation that teams work and communicate effectively together throughout the event.

In addition to the competition, a full range of professional development opportunities and training sessions will be available throughout the weekend, as well as a special awards banquet Saturday evening.
