2018 NAPT National School Bus Safety Week Poster Winners

The 2018 NAPT National School Bus Safety Week Poster Winners were announced today. The overall winner was awarded to Shivangi Ojha, an eighth-grade student from Belton ISD in Texas, for her poster that she submitted for the School Bus Safety Poster Contest.

The Texas Association for Pupil Transportation also extended congratulations on Tuesday to Calvin Le Fort Bend ISD for taking second place in Division IV.

Each year, school children worldwide submit poster designs that are based on a theme that is set by the NAPT School Bus Safety Poster Contest Committee. This year’s poster theme was “My School Bus, The Safest Form of Student Transportation!”

The winning artists in each category are:

Division I (Grades K-2)

  • First Place: Joshua Marino, Grade 2, Albany Ave Elementary, North Massapequa, New York
  • Second Place: Shaunak Deshpande, Grade 2, Prune Hill Elementary, Camas, Washington
  • Third Place: Braylee Dunn, Grade 2, Lanier County Primary, Lakeland, Georgia

Division II (Grades 3-5)

  • First Place: Musa R. Zafiruddin, Grade 4, Washington Elementary, Raleigh, North Carolina
  • Second Place: Dhruy Patel, Grade 4, East Lake Elementary, McDonough, Georgia
  • Third Place: Nicole Meiyen Chee, Grade 4, North Star Elementary, Hockessin, Delaware

Division III (Grades 6-8)

  • First Place: Shivangi Ojha, Grade 8, Belton ISD, Temple, Texas
  • Second Place: Aumkar Patel, Grade 6, Union Grove Middle School, McDonough, Georgia
  • Third Place: Micah Glover, Grade 8, William J. Clark Middle School, Orangeburg, South Carolina

Division IV (Special Education)

  • First Place: Ronald Lindsey, Grade 10, Clayton County, Jonesboro, Georgia
  • Second Place: Calvin Le, Grade 4, Fort Bend ISD, Houston, Texas
  • Third Place: Austin Sanders, Grade 2, Linn Elementary, Linn, Kansas

Division V (Computer Aided Design)

  • First Place: Madelyn Degnars, Grade 9, Cab Calloway School of the Arts, Wilmington, Delaware

Overall Winner

  • Shivangi Ojha, Grade 8, Belton ISD, Temple, Texas

Next Year

The theme for this year’s poster contest, “Red Lights Mean STOP!” is the theme of the 2019 National School Bus Safety Week, held Oct. 21-25.
