Roundup: A Miraculous Save, Texting While Driving and More

A young girl miraculously survived being run over by her own bus. After getting off the bus, Paige Breckle bent over to retrieve an item and was knocked to the ground as the bus pulled away. Yet, by sheer luck, the impact landed Paige right between the wheels and the bus simply passed over her. She was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

The bus driver who caused the wreck that cost the lives of three people was texting a prostitute. James Davenport swapped a series of cryptic text messages with Lacey Victoria Easterly moments before the bus swerved across traffic and broadsided another bus. Davenport recently died due to what authorities believe were natural causes. While the specific nature of the conversation hasn’t been determined, authorities find it moot, as the results were the same: three people dead.

The quick decision of a Houston-area bus driver saved several students moments before the bus caught fire and exploded. The driver smelled smoke and stopped the bus, ordering the 13 students being transported to exit. Within seconds, an inferno consumed the bus, causing the bus to explode. No injuries were reported.

Concerned that the only ears that would hear a child in distress are a cow’s, Connecticut parents have asked that the local school district revise is bus stop policy to make them safer. For the rural parts of the state, where houses are spread out, children are dropped off to make long treks home along country roads without the benefit of sidewalks. A number of parents have brought this hazard to attention of school administrators; however, a plan to accommodate both students and parents in this situation has not been finalized.
