TSD Video Contest Winner Announced

Rhonda Fiddler, a bus driver and special needs trainer for Cherokee County School District in Georgia, won the 2015 TSD Conference Video Contest.

Her fun yet informative video described the extensive training Cherokee County provides to its trainers, but noted how attending the TSD Conference would supplement the school district’s training to its bus drivers and attendants on student mobility and occupant restraint issues.

“Not only do we want to make sure we’re training everybody to the best of our ability when they come in (as new employees), but we want to continue their education in developing classes for all the different policies and standards that change,” Fiddler told School Transportation News in a recent online article that includes her winning video.

Fiddler won an all-expenses-paid trip, including $100 spending cash, to the TSD Conference. The video contest entailed submitting a video two to three minutes in length describing the school district’s special needs operations. The TSD Conference Tenured Faculty and National Board of Advisors judged the submitted videos.

The judging was based on:

1) The effectiveness of the school district’s special needs operations
2) The urgency of needs in a school district’s special needs transportation operations and
3) What the contestant is trying to accomplish or solve by attending the TSD Conference

Congratulations, Rhonda!

We’ll see you in Frisco!
