Andover, KS – Andover Public Schools has recently completed installing new digital surveillance camera equipment from Eye3Data, a leading provider of School Bus Video Solutions, in a majority of its 35 bus fleet. The school used grant monies awarded by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) to implement the Eye3Data School Bus Camera Solution. Source Inc. of Overland Park, KS won the bid because their equipment offered advanced wireless technology, in addition to the quality cameras, low price, ease of installation and simple access to incidents on the bus.
“Everything we do is touched by technology. From the classroom to the office, from the lunch room to the transportation department, technology increases efficiency throughout our district,” explains Superintendent of Schools Mark A. Evans.
The district added bus cameras to continue to assure the safety of their students and staff. “Eye3Data’s Video Solution is already helping the school district address and verify discipline and safety issues.”
“When a bus discipline issue is brought to my attention, I can easily, from my desk, pull up the video on my computer and even send it to a principal. It’s quick, easy and saves time. Eye3Data’s Camera solution provides wireless access to the live video on the bus. This allows easy viewing and we are able to analyze data from our administrative offices,” says Director of Transportation Julie Clopton.
According to Clopton, “The installation process has gone very well. Cables are completely hidden – to look at the bus it would be difficult to tell any changes that have been made aside from the small cameras mounted in the bus.”
The video surveillance system assists in pinpointing discipline issues so the drivers can continue to keep their focus on driving. It also monitors driver activity if there’s a need.
“Drivers like it because it’s like having an extra set of eyes on the bus. It helps with security and safety for students and drivers,” explains Clopton.
Director of Technology Rob Dickson says, “It was important for us to select the most comprehensive full featured system available, giving administrators an easy-to-use interface. The Eye3Data Camera Solution combined with Sprint’s 3G and WIFI technology provided a compelling solution for our school district. The Transportation Director can pull a video clip and email it to an administrator within moments of a situation happening. Video and Audio can be pulled manually or wirelessly to provide information to the District Office.”
“Overall, the experience with Source, Inc. has been positive. I’m pleased with the district’s selection of Eye3Data’s Camera solution as well as the company’s installation and customer support,” Dickson states.
