Blue Bird 2010 Emission Bus Sales Pass 5,000 Units as Districts Receive Fuel Savings

FORT VALLEY, Ga. — With over 5,000 school buses equipped with 2010 SCR technology sold, Blue Bird’s globally proven 2010 emissions solution, Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR), is being met with rave reviews.

Community School Corporation of Eastern Hancock County, located in central Indiana, purchased a Blue Bird Vision to experience the SCR technology first-hand. The results exceeded their expectations. “Our 2010 Vision has proven itself. With the SCR technology, we expected to see some additional efficiency in fuel economy but we were blown-away when we continuously calculated the bus was getting approximately 11.5 miles per gallon,” states Carl Ingram, director of transportation for the district.

With a primary route of rural, hilly terrain, the 2010 Vision’s stellar fuel economy is that much more impressive. “With SCR being utilized in Europe for many years, I knew the technology was safe and proven. However, we didn’t realize the magnitude of savings that our Blue Bird Vision provides—it’s substantial. We will definitely be purchasing more Visions for our fleet.”

The fuel economy advantage from Blue Bird is no secret to the industry. A 2009 third-party, independent test confirmed that Blue Bird school buses powered with the Cummins ISB-10 engines deliver 7-17 percent better fuel economy. The feedback provided by school districts and contractors across North America have echoed this finding and many times, are finding the SCR fuel economy advantage exceeds normal ranges.

In an era where every penny counts, Blue Birds buses are an asset to a districts’ bottom line. To learn more about Blue Bird buses or its SCR technology, contact a Blue Bird Dealer in your area or visit www.blue-bird.com.
