RTC of Southern Nevada Installs Trapeze Solution to Support Veterans Transportation in Las Vegas Valley

LAS VEGAS — Trapeze Group today announced that the Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada (RTC) has selected a comprehensive Trapeze demand response management solution to run their regional veterans transportation services. The solution utilizes Android tablets serving as on-board computers.

RTC purchased Trapeze NOVUS-DRM and DriverMate for demand response management. From call taking to dispatching, Web-enabled, NOVUS-DRM is a browser-based, easy-to-use solution designed to help manage the unique needs of a demand response transportation system. DriverMate uses handheld devices, in RTC’s case Samsung Galaxy tablets, to connect vehicles, the dispatch center and the ‘back office’ in real-time.

The system, currently being installed, has been partly funded by a Veterans Transportation and Community Living Initiative Grant. RTC received the grant from the Federal Transit Administration in the summer of 2012. The agency’s mandate is to support the development of a Veterans Medical Transportation Network that is going to transport veterans to and from medical facilities within the Las Vegas Valley, which is home to more than 280,000 veterans and active duty military personnel.

The RTC of Southern Nevada is both the transit authority and the transportation-planning agency for Southern Nevada. As the Las Vegas Valley’s population continues to increase daily, so too does traffic congestion and the RTC identifies transportation challenges and explores and implements both short and long-term resolutions while simultaneously promoting sustainability, air quality improvement, enhanced mobility and increased quality of life in the region. RTC has been a Trapeze client since 1999.
