SafetyTrim’s Wheel Nut Management System Identifies, Prevents Wheel Loss

Safetytrim Carolina is pleased to announce the launch of Safetytrim in the USA and Canada, its revolutionary new, British and precision engineered wheel nut management system for commercial vehicles. UK Trade and Invest, the Government’s export promotion arm, have described it as a “born global” product. A British Solution to a Global Problem which should be of interest to companies working towards CSA2010.

What makes Safetytrim unique is that it is the only wheel nut management system in the world which both visibly indicates there is a loose wheel nut and, more importantly, holds that nut in place until it can be re-torqued when the vehicle returns to the workshop.

Each Safetytrim is moulded from a synthetic fibre which is highly resistant to heat and friction as it has a melting point of 256 degrees Celsius. With a chemical ‘memory’ that allows it to revert back to its original shape, Safetytrim fits tightly once pushed over the nuts on each of a vehicle’s wheels, but is easy to fit and remove in a workshop.

It is a low-cost, British designed and manufactured product, one for every wheel, which will help eradicate the problem of wheel nuts backing off. A single wheel loss will always be expensive for any business or organisation and not just in terms of load loss and delays or damage to the axle, but a fast rolling wheel can also do a lot of damage to buildings and will cause serious injury or death should it hit a person.

Syd Gallimore for the company said: “Wheel safety is rightly acknowledged to be immensely important. It is easy to fit, heat resistant and highly resilient to the demands asked of it. And not only does it clearly point out when a nut has begun to work itself loose, but it also stops the problem from getting worse. We have great hopes for this British designed and precision engineered product to be a great export success around the world.”
