Tennessee’s Largest School System Selects Tyler Technologies’ School Solution

DALLAS — Tyler Technologies, Inc. has signed a contract with Tennessee’s Shelby County Schools Board of Education for its Versatrans student transportation management solution, part of Tyler’s integrated software solutions for the K-12 school market. On July 1, 2013, Shelby County Schools (SCS), the unified district combining Memphis City Schools and Shelby County Schools, will become Tennessee’s largest school system and the 14th largest district in the U.S. serving nearly 140,000 students.

SCS selected Tyler’s Versatrans solution because of its scalability as the district transitions to a single public school district, merging the transportation operations of the former Memphis and Shelby County schools. SCS invested in a wide range of applications, including Versatrans Routing & Planning™, Versatrans Onscreen®, Versatrans Triptracker® and Versatrans e-link® to share user-defined data on the Web, giving staff and parents the ability to look up route information.

“Assimilating Versatrans across the district will aid in providing a consistent level of excellence in the transportation of all students,” said Debbie Rike, Shelby County Schools’ transportation director. “The GIS system and map integration in Versatrans is superior to other products we reviewed, and the ease of use for routing and planning exceeded our expectations.”

“Our clients have relied on Versatrans’ industry leadership for nearly 30 years, and we will continue to deliver innovative solutions that provide the flexibility and scalability school districts require,” said Ted Thien, senior vice president and general manager of Tyler’s Versatrans solution. “Tyler solutions will help the unified district of Shelby County meet its operating objectives while supporting the needs of its administrators, staff, students and their parents well into the future.”
