Orbit Software, Inc. is searching for a U.S. school bus operation in need of route optimization services as the software provider is offering a technology grant of up to $30,000 to use the BusBoss system.
Sonia Mastros, president of Orbit Software, said the contest is designed to help improve the effectiveness and efficiency of student transportation programs nationwide. The total savings of implementing the software could exceed more than $100,000 a year, the company added.
In addition to demographics information, applications must explain how the school district currently routes students, why Orbit Software should select the school district for the free service and explain any current routing challenges.
The contest began April 1 and runs through May 10, when all applications are due. Orbit Software said it will select the winner by May 15.
