Arizona School District Implements Online School Bus Stop Resource for Students, Parents

The Tucson Unified School District (TUSD) launched a new website in time for the start of the 2011-2012 school year that provides information on bus stops and pick-up and drop-off times for each school campus.

MapNet Web allows users to input a specific street address and select the school or Head Start agency to see bus stops and times. If a street address for the student is not listed, a “Stop List By School” page displays the nearest stops by bus number and time of arrival.

The district said the new website will provide better customer service.

The Pima County Public Library volunteered computers at its locations for parents and students who do not have Internet access and would otherwise be unable to use the new service.

TUSD is one of the largest school districts in Arizona with 243 daily bus routes utilizing a fleet of more than 300 school buses. More than 58,000 students attending 108 different schools utilize the bus service for 4.68 million individual rides each year. TUSD has 11,000 bus stops across the district. The fleet travels more than 4.7 million miles annually, regular routes, special education routes, field trips, and athletic events.
