Grant Funding Available From Texas Clean School Bus Program

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) announced it is accepting applications for the Texas Clean School Bus Program, which awards grants to school districts to retrofit diesel-powered school buses with emissions-reduction technology.

Eligible applicants are “any Texas school district, charter school or transportation system provided by a countywide school district.”

A total of $4.7 million is available to reimburse school districts for the installation of pollution-control retrofits on older, diesel-powered school buses. Districts may apply for any amount of funding; however, the TCEQ said funds are limited and that applications will be considered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Interested applicants must apply by Dec. 2 in order to be considered.
