Micro Bird Recall to Fix Overheating of Eight-Way Flashers

Micro Bird filed a report with NHTSA earlier this month to recall 671 Type A school buses with eight-way flashers that may overheat and stop working.

Micro Bird G5 and MB II school buses manufactured from Oct. 1, 2009 through March 16 of this year are affected by the recall campaign. The company said the wire on the power circuit for the eight-way flashing light is too small, which causes the terminal connection to overheat and the connection to fail.

The flashers warn approaching vehicles that the school bus is loading or unloading students, and the absence of these lights could result in a traffic collision between the other vehicle and the school bus or the other vehicle and a student pedestrian is who crossing the street to or from the school bus.

Micro Bird said it will notify owners by September that an uprated wiring kit with a relay will be provided free of charge. Micro Bird added it will reimburse all labor costs.
