Newly Redesigned NYAPT Website Debuts before Convention

The New York Association for Pupil Transportation has just launched a redesigned website greets visitors with bright photos and a bold “Welcome to NYAPT” emblazoned over the reminder that, “In NYS, over 2.3 million children ride a yellow school bus each day.”

Smiling faces of these children speak to the importance of NYAPT’s mission — “a safe and efficient school bus ride.”

The homepage features a prominent event calendar, news feed, easy-to-use dropdown menu and photo icons for “Issues & Advocacy,” “Training” and “FAQs.” The “Resources” option leads to links for the state Education Department, Department of Transportation, DMV and other key state and federal agencies, in addition to downloads of relevant state laws and bus safety regulations. Here users can also find information on “Operation Safe Stop” and grant opportunities.

The Albany-based Intellisites worked with NYAPT to develop the brand-new site, which debuted before the association’s convention last week. At the 53rd annual convention in Saratoga Springs, NYAPT President David Christopher of Shenendehowa CSD presented its Annual Report to the Members. More than 265 association members attended the meeting, which included a trade show with exhibitors from all areas of the school transportation industry.

NYAPT also held its 2011 School Bus Roadeo Day in conjunction with the conference, showcasing more than 100 of the nation’s finest school bus drivers and technicians. The daylong event featured a State School Bus Safety Roadeo, a Special Needs Roadeo and a Technicians/Mechanics Roadeo. First-place winners are eligible to move onto the national competition.
