Photos: LaHood Participates in National ‘Love the Bus’ Event in Virginia

Following are photos taken at today’s National Love the Bus event in Arlington, Va. U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood visited Tuckahoe Elementary School to meet with kindergarten through fifth-grade students and to celebrate school bus safety and the jobs performed each day by the nation’s school bus drivers.

In addition to being presented with a Love the Bus T-shirt, Secretary LaHood listened to preschoolers sing a rendition of “Wheels on the Bus” and to a rap from kindergarteners on the rules of riding the school bus.

Love the Bus showcases the safety, environmental and congestion mitigation benefits of the iconic yellow school bus. The event was produced by the American School Bus Council (ASBC), which formed Love the Bus in 2007.

Also in attendance representing ASBC were: Linda Bluth, past-president of NAPT; Barry Sudduth, NAPT Region 2 director; Max Christensen, president of NASDPTS; Becky Weber, executive director of NSTA; and Markus Videnieks, ASBC coordinator. Fairfax Superintendent Dr. Patrick Murphy also attended the event along with support staff. Libby Garvey and Noah Simon represented the Arlington County School Board.
