Safety Vision, Blue Bird Ink Deal to Offer High-Def Stop Arm Cameras

Blue Bird customers will soon be able to order high-definition surveillance systems from Safety Vision to document illegal passers of school buses following a formal agreement announced today.

Safety Vision’s aftermarket High Definition Stop Arm Camera System will be installed on a Blue Bird Vision conventional bus on display at the STN EXPO Trade Show in Reno, Nev., on July 24.

Blue Bird and Safety Vision said the turn-key, stand-alone surveillance system incorporates a mega-pixel image sensor and solid-state recording inside an IP67/IK10 rated enclosure that is both waterproof and able to withstand wear and tear.  It can be configured to record in high-definition 1080P or three mega-pixel mode when the stop arm is actuated during loading and unloading. Video records in real time at 30 frames per second and utilizes H.264 compression to maximize recording tmies on the built-in, 32GB solid-state media.

“Studies indicate that the average school bus experiences three stop arm violations each week,” said Bruce Smith, president and CEO of Safety Vision. “Our new High Definition Stop Arm Camera System is a perfect fit for addressing this danger because it is a standalone system, which does not require additional equipment or costly integration with third-party hardware or software. We are thrilled to partner with an innovative leader such as Blue Bird and further provide its vast North American dealers and customers with this exclusive game changing product.”

“Safety is at the forefront of all objectives and decisions at Blue Bird. With this exciting agreement, Blue Bird dealers and customers will have access to the industry’s most advanced solution for addressing the epidemic of stop arm violations on school buses,” added Don Nichols, vice president of parts for Blue Bird Corporation, in a statement. “In addition to the High-Definition Stop Arm Camera System exclusivity, this agreement also allows our dealer network and customers premiere access to Safety Vision’s proven product line of recorders, cameras and fleet tracking systems. Blue Bird is pleased to partner with an industry-leading company such as Safety Vision, which has nearly two decades of proven experience in offering mobile video solutions.”
