Thomas Built Buses Sets Dates for 2014 Training Institutes

Thomas Built Buses announced the 2014 schedule for two training sessions designed to complement existing school bus maintenance programs and strengthen the skills of bus mechanics.

The Thomas Built Institute’s Service Training East is scheduled for April 29 through May 2 in Greensboro, N.C. A second training session will take place from Sept. 9 to 12 in Dallas, Texas, for technicians who are unable to attend in April. Last year’s training sessions were held in May and July, with the latter coinciding with the STN EXPO in Reno, Nev., for added convenience.

Participating technicians select the track they want and receive 28 credit hours of continuing education. For the 2014 Institute, they can choose either “Type C: Multiplex, Service Link or Troubleshooting” or “Type D: Electrical and Fan Drive.”

The curriculum also includes school bus factory tours and the following classes:

“We know how tough it is to keep up with ever-changing technology, EPA standards and safety regulations,” said Mike Stotler, service education manager for Thomas Built Buses. “The annual Thomas Built Institute has become a very popular opportunity for school bus technicians to get hands-on training and a factory-certified curriculum in small classes, all in less than a week’s time.”

Early enrollment is recommended because classes fill up quickly. Registration is limited to 100 participants to ensure small class sizes and individual attention. The cost is $325, which includes lunch and ground transportation. To register, visit Thomas’ website
