Zonar Systems Awards $50K Technology Grants to Seven School Districts at NAPT Summit

Zonar Systems awarded $350,000 in total grants in Grand Rapids, Mich., to equip school buses with the comnpany’s Electronic Fleet Management Solutions, including the Electronic Vehicle Inspection Reporting (EVIR) system. The seven districts were chosen by the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) Board of Directors from submitted proposals on how they would utilize the technology.

The winners were: Bridgeport ISD northwest of Dallas; East Windor Regional in New Jersey; Del Norte County Unified School District in Crescent City, Calif.; Hudsonville Public Schools in Grand Rapids; Kanawha County Schools in West Virginia; Pateros School District, located 117 miles east of Seattle; and San Juan Unified School District near Sacramento, Calif.

Integrated with Zonar’s GPS and cellular technologies, the company said EVIR gives pupil transportation service providers the vital ability to “inspect, track and NAPTthe National Association for Pupil Transportation, said the equipment has “a track recordof saving dollars and much more by improving safety, security and overall efficiency of school bus operations.”

“NAPT applauds Zonar for its many contributions to the school bus industry, and for this generous grant opportunity,” he continued. “It couldn’t come at a better time, as every school district is facing tight budgets that demand more efficiency and cost savings. One of our members will soon have equipment free of charge that provides a tremendous management advantage.”

Representatives from the seven school districts received the awards on Oct. 20 during the NAPT Awards Banquet.
