Student Shot on Michigan School Bus

AP News has reported that a 17-year-old student was shot in the arm on a school bus outside of a school in Jackson, Michigan. Authorities have said that the student is expected to survive.

Jackson Police Deputy Chief Elmer Hitt told the Associated Press the teen was shot once in the arm Monday afternoon on the bus outside of the Wilson Academy alternative high school. Police are searching for the suspect, who ran away.

According to Hitt, investigators believe they know who the suspect is, but they aren’t getting a lot of information from the victim.

Hitt said the victim attends the school, but the suspect likely does not. Based on witness accounts, it appears that the two knew each other and the victim was targeted.

FOX News reported that Jackson schools Superintendent Jeff Beal said that the school was locked down and a new bus came to pick up the other students. He added that a crisis team that includes social workers is coming to the school.
