A young student was once again left abandoned last week on a parked Philadelphia school bus, a local TV station reported.
Philadelphia police were summoned on June 8 after a passer-by called 911, who then called the 7-year-old-boy’s father. He said his son had also been left all alone on the bus the previous week.
In the previous incident, the bus driver was reportedly fired, while the driver involved in the most recent instance was arrested and “could face endangerment charges.” No mention was made if the second driver had also been terminated.
STN reached out to the School District of Philadelphia for comment, but had not received a response at this writing. However, ABC 6 TV said school bus contractor All City Transportation is investigating.
STN also contacted the company for comment, but the message was not returned at this report.
The Philadelphia school district statement shown during a Friday newscast stated, “Overseeing the safe transport of our students on a daily basis is one of our most important responsibilities. To do so, we work with various bus vendors, including All City Transportation. We have procedures in place that all bus drivers should follow, in order to ensure that students safely arrive at the correct stop.”
In addition, “Falling short of those standards is unacceptable. We have been in communication with All City Transportation, and are working with them and the Philadelphia Police Department as this matter is investigated.”
