Remembering the Sandy Hook Victims

The following is reposted with permission from the Connecticut School Transportation Association:

Please see the letter below from Leslie Sheldon of All-Star Transportation. As you may know, All-Star is the transportation provider for Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Conn. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all that are affected by this horrific event.

I think I can speak for all school bus drivers when I say that the children we transport are “our children.” We do our jobs every single day, making sure that our children are safe. When something as senseless as this happens, we are all affected and feel the loss. Please take the time to share a loving smile with all of our children, today and every day. Help them to feel safe and show them how much you all care for them. Please be supportive of the drivers in Newtown. They continue to be strong and support the Newtown community when everyone is hurting so much at this time.

Thank you, Donna Legault, CSTA Executive Director

We have had a great outreach of support from our industry concerning the Newtown tragedy from all over the country, and we thank everyone during this difficult time. Our family is challenged to help our employees with answers which we simply do not have! We continue to support our drivers the best we can. We realize that this has affected every bus driver in the country. Our drivers get great comfort knowing that they are not alone. Ten buses service the Sandy Hook School, and six of our employees have children that attend the school. All of our employees’ children are safe. Sadly, every bus has lost a smile when school resumes after the break.

Cards of support can be sent to me at our Corporate Office at 146 Huntingdon Ave., Waterbury, CT 06708. I will bring them to Newtown to share with our staff and drivers! Please keep Newtown in your thoughts and prayers!

Regards,
Leslie Sheldon, Operations Manager
