CORE and Transfinder Announce Contract for the State of Maine to Provide Student Routing and Transportation Management System

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Core Education and Consulting Solutions (CORE-ECS) of Atlanta, GA and Transfinder Corporation of Schenectady, NY jointly announced today that the Maine Department of Education (MDOE) has selected them to provide a centralized student routing and transportation management system for its school districts. Core and Transfinder were awarded the contract following an extensive and thorough RFP process, which was conducted by the MDOE from February through July 2009.

Core will manage the project and help develop the web-enabled platform for districts to tap into Transfinder’s software solutions for student routing and transportation. There are more than 200 public school districts in Maine serving over 200,000 students who will benefit from this opportunity.

According to Rick Soules, MDOE’s State Transportation Director, “The state is enabling districts to connect to a statewide web-enabled software solution for their routing and transportation needs at no cost. This will eliminate the costly and time-consuming efforts by local school units in procuring the same technology from a variety of vendors. It also enables the MDOE to standardize on one solution statewide.”

“This truly is an innovative approach by the state of Maine. It responds to economic challenges facing local school districts today and provides them with top-flight technology to improve efficiencies and realize cost savings in their transportation budgets,” said Dhar Rama, CORE’s director of product development and client services, and project leader for the Maine contract.

Antonio Civitella, Transfinder’s president & CEO, added, “We are excited to work with CORE to help school districts throughout Maine integrate their district data into our software system so they can create an optimal transportation management system that meets their unique geographic and demographic requirements.”
