Durham School Services Provides Shuttle Service for ABC’s ‘Extreme Makeover: Home Edition’ in Jacksonville, Fla.

Warrenville, Ill. – Durham School Services, a leader in student transportation, recently donated shuttle service for the filming of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” television series in Jacksonville, Fla., with over 50 school bus drivers volunteering their time for this event. In the television series, a house belonging to a well-deserving family gets a complete renovation all in the course of a week. The heartwarming show brings communities together as they work together to help out a neighbor in need.

Durham School Services has been a part of the Jacksonville community since 2006 and provides transportation services for Duval County Public Schools; Extreme Makeover: Home Edition was an excellent opportunity to further serve our neighbors. Durham provided two shuttles for the filming; one shuttle was used for the volunteers helping to build the home and ran almost 24 hours a day, and the other shuttle was used for spectators and ran 12 hours a day. Drivers worked two to three hour shifts.

“Our drivers were very excited to be a part of this television show, as it gave them a chance to give back to the community they serve each day,” said John Ziegler, Durham’s region vice president. “When we were approached about the possible of supporting Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, we knew it would be a project that our outstanding group of employees would want to support. As we set out to sign up drivers to volunteer their time, the response was overwhelming; it demonstrated the sense of community spirit and giving that our team at Durham School Services is all about.”

Extreme Makeover: Home Edition can be seen on Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/7 p.m. CT on ABC.
