First Student is Bringing Over 70 Buses to Lincoln County School District in Oregon

CINCINNATI — The Lincoln County School District in Oregon is bringing in First Student to provide bus service to more than 3,000 students for the 2019-20 school year and beyond, it was announced on August 28.

First Student will operate, maintain and manage all student transportation services as part of a new 10-year partnership with the district.

First Student is replacing nearly all of the district’s fleet with more than 70 new state-of-the-art buses. Every bus will be equipped with the latest technology, including GPS tracking systems.

“The bus ride is a crucial component of a child’s school experience,” said Lincoln County School Superintendent Dr. Karen Gray. “First Student has shown a clear commitment to leading the industry, when it comes to investing in driver training, safety and technology. We look forward to working together to deliver transportation solutions that meet the needs of our students and their families.”

First Student executives said the Lincoln County School District and their families will be introduced to a new resource to better manage the before-and-after school rush. With the FirstView District Dashboard and Parent App, school administrators can streamline daily decision-making through centralized, real-time fleet reporting. They can then efficiently alert parents about school delays or issues through the secure bus tracking app.

The district will also have access to First Planning Solutions. First Student’s dedicated routing division will work to develop efficient bus routes for the district to reduce operating costs.

“We’re focused on becoming a vital partner with the Lincoln County School District,” said First Student Area General Manager Laura Hansen. “We recognize the crucial role we play in the school day by ensuring students have safe, on-time transportation. We’re excited to have the opportunity to use our insights, experience and expertise to improve service for families.”

First Student serves nearly 40 school districts in the state of Oregon. The company operates a fleet of approximately 1,500 buses and employs more than 2,000 drivers and staff.

For this upcoming school year, more school districts have chosen First Student than any other provider. To date, more than 43,000 additional students nationwide will receive safe, reliable transportation from First Student in the 2019-20 school year.
