IMMI Looks to Steering Wheels to Drive Company Growth

IMMI, the parent company of SafeGuard school bus seats and occupant restraint systems, is adding commercial steering wheels to its product line, after acquiring Vehicle Improvement Products.

IMMI and VIP share many of the same heavy truck, military, bus and off-highway markets customers. IMMI said it expects the acquisition to increase business opportunities as it begins marketing steering wheels to its existing client base and beyond, while also focusing on new product development.

“Our two companies already share many of the same business partnerships, and we anticipate expanding these essential relationships as we join forces with VIP,” said Tom Anthony, IMMI owner and president.

The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In business since 1969, VIP is a family-owned company based in Antioch, Illinois. IMMI said VIP will continue to operate and manufacturer products from there.

About the Company

In addition to its line of SafeGuard seats, seat belts and child harnesses, IMMI manufacturers restraints systems for military vehicles and a host of vehicle tie-downs for the fire and EMS industry, commercial trucks boats, and outdoor other activity vehicles. IMMI also performs advanced crash testing at its Center for Advanced Product Evaluation, which boasts the largest barrier block in the world.
