National Interstate to Expand Sales Efforts With New Fuel Distribution Insurance Program

RICHFIELD, Ohio – National Interstate Insurance Company, a leading provider of transportation insurance, announced that effective January 1, 2013 it will now complement its long-standing captive fuel distribution business by offering a new traditional insurance program.

The company is accepting applications for January 1, 2013 and beyond inception dates.

The new fuel distribution program will focus on best-in-class residential propane and fuel dealers with a commitment to safety and strong risk management practices. Coverage options include auto liability, general liability, auto physical damage, workers’ compensation, property and excess umbrella. Crime and inland marine coverages are also available upon request.

National Interstate will market the program through a network of retail agents and brokers with experience in the fuel distribution industry.

“We are pleased to offer a one-stop-shopping experience custom tailored for fuel distribution operators,” said Dave Michelson, President and Chief Executive Officer of National Interstate. “Since 2004 we have provided insurance products to the fuel distribution industry, giving us a solid understanding of both the business and its highly specialized needs. Our claims, customer service, and risk management professionals possess the experience and expertise to provide the highest level of service to fuel distribution operators.”

“This new traditional program gives us an excellent opportunity to expand our current captive business in this market segment,” added Jim Parks, Vice President. “We are also looking forward to partnering with retail fuel distribution producers in delivering a best-in-class insurance and risk management program.”
