New York’s Best School Bus Drivers go head-to-head in Annual School Bus Safety Competition on May 20th in Rockland County
NEW YORK – The New York School Bus Contractors Association announced today that they are hosting their 46th Annual New York State School Bus Safety Competition at Rockland Lake State Park in Valley Cottage, N.Y., on Saturday May 20th, 2017.
The NYSBCA’s annual School Bus Safety Competition is the largest and only statewide competition of its kind in New York State. More than 100 drivers from school districts and private school bus contractors will compete to be the best in their respective categories, including large (type C and D) buses to smaller (type A) vans.
The day begins with a comprehensive written exam on school bus safety at 8:15 AM and goes throughout the afternoon. Driver’s test their skills with a variety of hands-on activities including, but not limited to: vehicle inspections, loading and unloading students, operating a school bus through various driving courses, managing railroad crossings, and more.
The winners of the competition hosted by the New York School Bus Contractors Association will be eligible to compete in the National School Transportation Association’s (NSTA) International School Bus Safety Competition in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 15th & 16th.
