SEATTLE, Wash. — The new ZPass+ school bus rider notification service from Zonar is now available as an app for Google Android phones.
Zonar, provider of electronic fleet inspection, tracking and operations technology, developed ZPass+ to compliment its award-winning, patented ZPass solution. With ZPass, students are issued a unique RFID identification card. As the student passes the ZPass reader upon boarding and exiting the bus, the time, date and location are transmitted to a secure database.
ZPass integrates with Zonar’s HD-GPS technology that, in addition to several additional data points, captures latitude, longitude, time, and speed at every data collection point. This provides school administrators with a clear view of the bus’ path, each stop and start, and even the time, date, and location at which the door was opened. School districts access the vehicle and ridership data via Zonar’s Ground Traffic Control – a secure Web-based software designed to ensure the safety of bus-riding students and the efficiency of the busses they ride.
ZPass+ provides parents and guardians with student-specific ridership information via the secure website http://www.zpassplus.com or via a smartphone. The new ZPass+ Google Android app joins the previously released iPhone app so parents can access the times and locations of their children’s scans. The apps will also enable SMS or push notifications pertaining to when and where their student boarded or exited the bus.
Parents can access ZPass+ if their student’s school district offers the program. Parents with students attending ZPass-enabled school districts simply visit http://www.zpassplus.com to enroll in ZPass+ and set up their account using their child’s ZPass card number.
