Apple Bus Company Acquisition Strengthens Business Holdings in Kansas City Area

School-bus contractor Apple Bus Company expanded its Midwest presence by acquiring Mid America Transportation, a deal that consists of 20 school-district customers around Kansas City.

Apple Bus is already based in Kansas City and operates several contracts in the area as well as about two dozen contracts throughout Missouri and in neighboring Kansas. The acquisition of Mid America expands Apple Bus’ fleet of school buses by 120 and employee base by 125. In a statement, the company said its acquisition of all Mid America business excluding the contract for Lexington R-v School District located about 50 miles east of Kansas City, and many of the newly acquired district customers are already aligned with Apple Bus through exisiting partnerships.

Apple Bus’ service to the 20 school districts begins with the coming 2013-2014 school year.
