HSM Expands Presence With Acquisition of Summit Seating

The provider of integrated transportation solutions acquired Elkhart, Ind.-based Summit Seating Inc., which manufactures seating products for the transit bus, recreational vehicle, van and other specialty vehicles for original equipment or aftermarket use.

HSM officials said all Summit Seating product lines would be integrated into HSM’s Transportation Solutions business unit during the next 90 days. During the transition, Summit Seating customers will continue to receive the same service from the company.

Ray Fink, founder and principal of Summit Seating, will remain with the company as director of seating systems-commercial vehicles. HSM’s Transportation Solutions business unit is headed by Tony Everett, who said that Summit’s high-end products would become more accessible to the growing market needs with HSM’s strength and organization behind the product line.

Dave Colburn, HSM president and CEO, added that this move supports the company’s ongoing migration from a components supplier to a provider of integrated solutions with a market-focused strategy.
