National School Transportation Association Appoints Tim Flood President

NSTA, the industry’s voice for private contractors, manufacturers and suppliers, appointed Timothy E. Flood president, and he succeeds outgoing president Magda Dimmendaal (pictured at left). The association announced the election results on July 23 at its Annual Meeting and Convention in Tulsa, Okla.

Flood began his presidency with the close of the annual convention. As president, he said he plans to address the complex safety and security challenges facing student transporters and to raise awareness that outsourcing school bus service is a safe and cost-effective solution for financially strapped school districts. NSTA is also an industry watchdog that protects the interests of school bus companies nationwide.

Currently Flood is executive vice president of The Trans Group, LLC in Spring Valley, N.Y., where he has spent more than 25 years. He started out as a part-time school bus driver and worked his way up, focusing on improving customer service and all aspects of pupil transportation operations.

Flood has received the Golden Merit, Distinguished Service Award and the School Bus Fleet’s Contractor of the Year Award. As a long-standing NSTA member, Flood has served on the Board of Directors for more than a decade while also chairing the Industry Development Committee, Safety and Security Committee and Association Committee, each for several years.

“I am honored to lead such an amazing group of industry professionals and to represent the entire NSTA membership,” said Flood. “Our focus remains on providing safe and efficient transportation to students throughout North America.”

In addition, Flood is a member of the New York School Bus Contractors Association’s Board of Directors and a past president of that association. He is also a past board member of the Pupil Transportation Safety Institute and has served on the New York State School Bus Driver Instructor Advisory committee. Lastly, he has represented the state of New York as a delegate at the National Congress on School Transportation.
