New Jersey Contractor Williams Passes Away

Benjamin Riley Williams, owner of bus contractor BR Williams Inc., passed away Wednesday at Cooper University Hospital in New Jersey. He was 77.

The National School Transportation Association first alerted its members and associates of Williams’ passing on Thursday evening.

Williams got his start in the school bus industry in 1975, when he took over the operation of the family company. He was a member of the National School Transportation Association, the New Jersey School Bus Contactor’s Association as well as a trustee for the Salem County Vocational Technical School Educational Foundation.

“Riley’s first love was driving. He especially enjoyed driving school buses and motorhomes. With his motorhome, he and his wife, Carol, made friends all across the country. Behind the wheel of a school bus, he was a mentor and touched the lives of many children,” reads his obituary

Williams is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carol (Jess) Williams; his son Benjamin R. “Joe” Williams (Lesley); his daughters, Chloe Williams (Joey Robbins) and Kristin Williams (Chris Riegel); his grandchildren, Amanda Lauren Williams and Brit Riley Williams; his brother, Claude Roy Williams; his nephews, Jared Fogg and Justin Fogg;and his niece, Ashley (Fogg) Dolbow. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 22 at noon at the Aldine United Methodist Church in Aldine, New Jersey.
