Synovia Solutions has launched website and mobile app that will allow parents and school administrators to keep track of their child’s school bus. Here Comes the Bus provides real-time GPS location of a school bus.
“In an effort to keep children safe, parents want to know the location of their child’s bus, whether it’s running late, early or on time. Here Comes the Bus will give them the information they need when they need it,” said Mark Anderson, transportation director for MSD Decatur Township in Indiana.
Through the app, users can customize what alerts they want to receive and how. For example, they can opt to receive push notifications or emails when a bus is within five minutes of arriving at the stop, as well as see things like when the bus arrives or leaves school.
“We think it’s a valuable tool for our parents and has the potential to help us reduce tardiness and absences related to students missing the bus,” added Anderson. “By using it, parents won’t have to ask or guess about the location of their child’s bus at any given time. They’ll know.”
Parents can access Here Comes the Bus for free on the web. The app version can be downloaded for a nominal fee via the iTunes App Store or Google Play apps. It is secure and provides parents with a private ID that allows them to see only the bus their child rides.
Here Comes the Bus is also available for purchase with Blue Bird Connect, a from-factory telematics solution the two companies partner on.
“When we heard about the availability of the website and app, we wanted to try it. We are excited about this opportunity to improve our service through technology,” said Anderson. “There are no hardware costs so it was very easy to implement the program.”
