Open Letter to Industry from Easy Way Safety Systems’ Rubin on Retirement

Earlier this month, we reported that Bob Rubin retired from Easy Way Safety Systems after 45 years citing health issues. This week, he sent the following letter to STN for publishing to the industry.

I’ve watched others retired but never thought I would join the ranks. I was sure they would create a special seat for me on Delta (Airlines), and I would fly from show to show. But alas the best laid plans, etc.

I know that I can’t name all of those whose lives touched mine, so I won’t even try. You know who you are, and so do I.

I have relished the friendships, bathed in the accolades and very much enjoyed just being with “you,” all of my friends.

We’ve shared good and not so good times but always found time to have fun. And there were far more good than not.

Forty-five years in the school bus industry has brought me in touch with the dearest people in the world. Courtesies about everywhere, whether on the show floor, at a meal, a casual drink among friends or a helping hand during setup or teardown.

I am blessed with a great wife, two loving children and three beautiful granddaughters.

I don’t know what lies ahead, but I can surely deal with whatever needs to be done. I’ll miss the friendships and mutual caring.

Thank you all for being my friends.

Bob Rubin
